Overview

Discover the techniques involved in painting beautiful and accurate botanical portraits in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. This course takes you step by step from drawing and simple washes right up to the more advanced methods of watercolour painting. Pupils gften have the opportunity to exhibit at regular exhibitions at the Cow Shed Studio, as well as receiving advice and assistance in submitting work to organisations such as the Royal Horticultural Society and the Society of Botanical Artists from an experienced exhibitor.

The Tutor

Alice Harman SBA - Plants and natural history were allways a great interest to Alice, and led to a part time course in botanical painting at Plumpton College, East Sussex in 1996. She is a regular ehibitor at the Society of Botanical Artists (SBA) annual exhibition at the Westminster Gallery in London. She was elected a member of the SBA in 2004. Alice won a Silver Gilt medal at the Royal Horticultural Society's autumn show in 2000, which was followed by two Silver medals in the years 2002 and 2006. She has exhibited with the Society of Sussex Artists and at the Chichester Open Art Exhibition. Alice exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour in 2003. She taught botanical painting at Plumpton College from 2001 untill 2005. Since this time she has been teaching in her own studio at Hammes Farm since.
